post-script: i have to add an important detail here- the insult to injury with the whole ribbons the mouse, new pet in my house-thing is that i just discovered on monday that stinking mice have been literally eating my clothes in my closet. little buggers destroyed a brand new shirt i haven't even worn yet! so my husband built a blocker so they can't climb in from the attic and onto the pole in the closet any more. which is stellar. however, those little punks are lucky they're cute and scraggly, otherwise, ribbons would have likely met another fate. and it doesn't involve sleeping on a bed of cotton, with a dish full of starch. pssh.
